chapter 16

the western cultures embraced all that is Christianity although its roots were middle eastern. the western cultures made the religions of Christianity that is today religions. in addition it is what cause the reformation of the protestations via martin Luther and all 95 of his theses. he sought change in the catholic church because of the extent of corruption with indulgences and also the clergy. martin Luther based all of his theses on the basis of religion for all and also to encourage the involvement of not only the priests but also the people. He did not want the church to have authority in the government and should focus on the teachings of the bible and to do as they preach. the spread of Christianity moved all throughout the world. it pushed to Asia and then to the Americas. the quest to convert had began as the age of exploration blossomed into its full potential. the many religions of the many different areas pushed and took form during this time period such as Hindu tradition and also the Muslim faith. these two stood strong against their threat Christianity. in addition to religion, science also brought forth many new and innovative ideas that changed western culture. the invention of the telescope and the many different ideas and theories that sprung forth really questioned the churches validity and seat of power.
