the cold war

with the many different civilizations there were a few who turned to Karl Marx and his version of a society that would be totally equal to one another. this Utopian idea did not blossom into Marxism but rather communism and it made way to become one of the biggest diplomatic conflicts between the united states and Russia. the cold war was the manifestation of the creation of the atomic bomb. there was a huge rivalry with atomic weapons and because both sides had them they made the phrase MAD mutual assured destruction. the race was not only with the arms but also with the space race and what became the Vietnam conflict. Vietnam was the manifestation of the fight against communism. in the 1960, the Vietnam war was because of the domino theory where the west would be overcome by communism because they were each dominoes. the war was thought to be in favor of the united states until the Tet offensive and made its way into news all over the world. this battle was fought between the west and communist Russia until the fall of communism.

world war 2

the beginning of the second world war manifested in 4 points M.A.I.N. the M standing for militarization of the Rhine area.the league of nations showed that they had no backbone because all they did was appease Hitler. the A is for allies which were made into two powers the axis and the allies. the I is for imperialism. imperialism brought pressure to each country to showboat its power and also it made the  race for colonies bigger. as many were picking apart Africa they fought for the land and its resources.lastly nationalism. the rise of Hitler created tension because of the treaty of Versailles and made the statement that it was unjust and not right for the German people. world war 2 also brought some of the biggest battles known especially in the pacific with the united states versus japan. the Japanese were relentless and often sacrificed their own lives without hesitation. they fought the us but failed to stop the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

chapter 21

the first world war: the events that carried out between 1914 and 1918 were manifested in the assassination of prince Ferdinand. it is said that the black hand , a secret organization, was behind the assassination because they did not want non pure blood to rule the country or they did not want the unification that he promised under his rule. either way it caused the events for the Great war and brought hell on earth. the war was new because of the new types of machinery they had. they had new weapons such as the machine gun, tanks, airplanes, and also toxic chemicals. Germany and its allies were relentless and brought the fight. during the battles there was a new form of fighting called trench warfare. the territories were divided into different sides and then they fought with "no mans land" in between. trench warfare was ineffective in gaining territory and strategy but was very effective in killing. there was hard times in the trenches, if the bullets didn't get you then the diseases would. they had to battle with the rats and also gang green and other infections. the first world war also introduced chemical warfare which brought some of the most painful deaths. mustard gas and also gaseous hydrochloric acid could eat you from the inside out. the first world war was one of the bloodiest and inhuman conflicts we have had in human history.

chapter 20

the second wave of colonial conquests. the many European nations colonized the many different parts of Africa. they pushed their frontiers and wanted control of resources that they did not have. this conquest for resources made an impact that is still seen to this very day. the many nations that have come from the African division have suffered from genocides, aprtide, and also segregation. Africa was divided up and every bit of it was for the enhancement of the mother country. this new colonialism was then turned into imperialism. the many countries whose interest were in Africa were exploited and also after the first world war the Germany and its allies forfeited all of their territories to the western powers.  in Africa there was a monopoly on cash crops and then all of the sustainable agriculture was taken out and replaced. the many people who had to work these farms made little to no pay and were forced to deplete the nutrition in the soil for profit. all of the effects of this and more are seen today in the world.

western powers and the effects of it: the overall idea of this chapter is to encapsulate the power of the west on the cultures and ideas of the Asian countries. the west was looking for any means necessary to balance the trade between them and china. the British brought about the means to create opium and export it to china because of its addictive nature and the demand went soaring through the roof. thus creating the opium wars. in addition the chapter disussed the sick man of europe which in other words is the ottoman empire. the other European nations poke fun at this name because they are no longer empires but sovereign states that make up all of Europe. the ottoman emprie has lost all of it true power. moreover japan is creating itself into the eastern power through westernization. they use western ways to use and gain their own identity through adaption and growth from their building blocks.

chapter 18

THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION: still to this day it hold to be the main cause of how the untied states emerged as a world power. the power of this revolution was evident in many cultures that made the world consist of a multitude of new technologies such as the steam engine and the development of fossils fuels. this was the also the emergence of capitalism the economic movement that consumed most of the world. in opposition to capitalism Carl Marx developed his ideologies that are called Marxism which is in other worlds a perfect form of communism. Marx argued that controlling the means of production is the only way to seize an equal way of economic system. this can only be achieve by two ways : one to unionize or collective bargain and two to create a revolution to take the means. in addition two nations were coming to power the united states and Russia. these two grew from industrialization but alternately and through different means. the united states made its economy capitalistic but also allows for unions to fight for equality whereas Russia grew up communistic and sought for government controlled means of production. all in all, the industrial revolution was the push to start the modern world today

the American revolution took place and made its way and set the bar for other countries. the American revolution was made possible because of three main reasons, religious persecution, taxation without representation, and also salutary neglect. the colonies of the original 13 states were made up of two types of people, transplant communities which were usually in the northern states, and also a majority of indentured servants that were also usually single males. bothy groups wanted to begin anew. one of the first colonies, Jamestown, was comprised of many indentured servants. one notable was Nathaniel bacon who inspired bacon's rebellion. in addition to that he fueled the fire that brought the slave trade to the states. the many reasons that created the revolution were also apparent in many other countries such as France and Spain. the image of the colonies repealing one of the super powers made the many peoples of other countries believe they should work for their rights. the abolition of slavery was first apparent in Brittan. this was followed by the many European powers and eventually with the passing of the 13th amendment in 1864 the united states. from all these revolution a sense of nationalism was evident and made the many ideologies that are still present today. moreover the feminist movement also moved forward after the abolition of slavery. woman's suffrage was important and a controversial topic at the time because equality was a new concept to not only race but gender.

He did not want the church to have authority in the government and should focus on the teachings of the bible and to do as they preach. the spread of Christianity moved all throughout the world. it pushed to Asia and then to the Americas. the quest to convert had began as the age of exploration blossomed into its full potential. the many religions of the many different areas pushed and took form during this time period such as Hindu tradition and also the Muslim faith. these two stood strong against their threat Christianity. in addition to religion, science also brought forth many new and innovative ideas that changed western culture. the invention of the telescope and the many different ideas and theories that sprung forth really questioned the churches validity and seat of power.

chapter 15

the way that the Europeans gained their passage to the Americas was all by accident. they were simply trying to find a route to India that took out the Muslim middle man and made it a lot more productive with less Muslim conflict. in addition the over all use of this trade route was for spices and many commodities that were not local to the western cultures. one of which that influenced this new route was the east India company and its quest on a better spice trade. these many east India companies took over the trade and made the profits benefiting their own countries. in Asia the Japanese went through a period that was controlled by military based interests and the name of this was called the shogun. these times in Asia pushed them forth onto the market. slave trade boomed and made its way to the Americas.

Chapter 14

The main point of this section is that the many peoples of the Americas have been subject to their own cultures and growth. Although they have been secluded from the western world they had many similarities and ideas that were progressing. When the Europeans came they brought forth one of the deadliest things to the native people of the Americas, diease and technology. Through both of these the many civilizations were brought down because they were not accustomed to them. The immunity that he Europeans had was higher because they have gone through the great plague and many epidemics. In addition these disesases are in existence because of the close knit farms that live hand and hand with the livestock, especially pigs. The swine are the dirtiest animals and when humans live and exist with them they create the catalyst that can merge viruses to both animals and human. In addition the new technologies gave an advantage to the Europeans because the native had no way to combat these weapons. Moreover, the use of animals, horses, made the difference because they had new beasts that could run a faster paces to create havoc in the societies.
